- Description
- This sword is a 1796 Pattern officer field sword. The guard is hinged and the blade has decorative sketches on it. It is believed to have belonged to an officer in the British troops. On the upper edge to the blade there is an inscription that reads “J.J Runkel Solingen”. It is believed that the blade was made by J.J. Runkel, Solingen, Germany. This sword, and others like it, would have been used during the War of 1812.
