SIR, sentatives, * instructing the Secretary of In compliance with a resolution of the House of RepreWar to furnish a - statement, showing the names of the several persons to whom land warrants have issued, and extra pay been allowed, sub sequent to the 3d March, 1817, under the act, entitled " An act granting bounty in lands and extra pay, to certain Canadian volunteers," and the act supplementary thereto; together with the names of the agents or attorneys to whom said land warrants were delivered, and the money paid; particularly noting such, if any, as were connected with the public offices; and also to state whether any, and, if any, what information he may have received relative to impositions practised on claimants, by persons pretending to be agents authorized by the government," I have the honor to render reports marked A and B. and to accompany them with copies of letters which have been addressed to the Paymaster General, and with copies of his answers, which contain all the information in possession of this Department, on thr subject.
