Twenty-Third in a 62 part series, Peace Council at Amherstburg excerpts the speech given by British Lt. Col. Reginald James in front of the Council of Western Nations on September 14, 1815. The speeches purpose was to thank the Native Warriors and Chiefs for their service in the War of 1812. To that end, it invoked the imagery of the Wampum belt to symbolize the friendship between the two nations.
