Description:
Black and white negative of a photograph of a carte de visite of the bust of Robert White. The photograph was taken in a studio.
Notes:
Robert White (1816-1908) of England married Elizabeth Rowan (1822-1909) of Ireland in 1843. In 1852 they settled at Whitby on lot 29 of Concession 2 after living for some time at Toronto.

Robert White was a brick and tile maker and he operated a brick yard on his property at the south-west corner of Cochrane Street and Rossland Road where the bricks of most of Whitby's nineteenth century buildings were made.

Robert and Elizabeth had nine children: Joseph (1844-1921), Thomas, Jane (1847-1914), William, Robert, Sarah Ann, Elizabeth, John, James.
