A black and white portrait painting of Mrs. William Laing (Louisa Amelia Yarnold).
Notes:
Louisa Amelia Yarnold was born at Finchley, Middlesex, England in March 1820 and came to Canada about 1835. On March 20, 1847 she was married to William Laing, Whitby's leading grain merchant. From 1860 to 1864 she lived at Inverlynn, a large house on Raglan Street, Whitby. On September 19, 1864 she gave birth to twin sons and she and one of the sons died that day at Whitby. Mrs. Laing is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
