- A black and white portrait photograph of Thomas Paxton.

- Thomas Paxton was born in Whitby Township in 1821 and in 1847 was one of the founders of Port Perry. He was a businessman in that community for many years. He was Reeve of Reach Township when the Provisional Council of the County of Ontario was formed in 1852 and served as Reeve until 1854. He served as Deputy Reeve of Reach in 1856. He represented North Ontario Riding in the Provincial Legislature of Ontario from 1867 to 1881 when he was appointed Sheriff of Ontario County. He died at Whitby on July 3, 1887, and was buried in the Dryden Baptist Cemetery, Whitby Township.
