A black and white photograph of the interior of Hatch and Brother's Hardware Store. In the photograph, from left to right are: unidentified man, Fred Hatch, Frank Hatch and Sam Kempthorne. Kettles, pots, brooms, laundry baskets and many other goods for purchase can be seen. Sign in the background reads Church's Alabastine Wallcoating.
Notes:
This three-storey brick store was located at 111 Brock Street North (third building on the east side of Brock Street, north of Dundas Street). It was operated by Samuel and Richard Hatch and later Samuel's sons Fred and Frank Hatch from 1874 to 1904. The business was founded in Whitby about 1864.
