Vernon Robert MacCarl was born at Oshawa, Ontario on January 15, 1925. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and was President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112 in 1960-1962. He was a member of the Whitby Town Council from 1965 to 1972 and later served as Whitby's Harbourmaster. He was Chairman of the Whitby Centennial Celebrations Committee in 1967 for Canada's Centennial. He worked in the transport business. Mr. MacCarl died at Whitby on December 4, 2001 and was cremated.
