Beverly Cook was an employee at Fairview Leodge until it was learned that she had cancer. She's been working fuil-time for about flive years at the nursing horne after a few years of part-tirne work. Cook was a health care aide, which includes bedside nursing, and she was an adjuvant, providing care for the residents. The lounge was bufit for the residents to enjoy, s0 they would have a place to talk privately and comfortably with visitors. The only room available was the linen room, but it had ne window. Money was donated for the purchase of a window. The projeot took about a year te complete. Before the completion of the lounge, Cook became ill. It was then decided te name the lounge after her. "She was just delighted,» said Jeannine Ben- nett, nursing manager at Fairview L-odge, and Cook's immediate superviser. Every department in the nursing home contri- buted to the construction of the lounge. Bennett said that nobody complained because evorybody wanted to help eut, especially since the lounge w as to be named after Cook. Bennett said that the lounge was buit with volunteer donations only.
