Peaches featured in heritage recipe contest Does your family have a favorite peach recipe that's been around for years? It's time to dust it off' and let everyone know just how good it is. Many wonderful peach recipes were created in granny's kitchen and handed down to faniily and friends over the years. Food is such an important part of our heritage and traditional faniily recipes refiect our tremendously rich and diverse history. This is H 1C 1 P E CON T E ST your opportunity to help preserve that tradition. To mark the Ministry of -Agriculture and Food's Centennial Year, Foodland Ontario is asking you to share the best of your peach recipe collection for a chance to win one of 15 exciting prizes. The grand prize winner will be presented with an Heirloom Quilt, specially commissioned CONTEST RULES 1. The contest is for peach recipes only. The recipe must contain at least 4 Ontario peaches, or the equivalent 2 cups (500 mL) sliced peaches. Also, ail the other important or principal ingredients should be grown in Ontario. 2. Each recipe must be in at least its second generation of use (that is you and at least one other generation in your family) _making it a true heritage recipe. Yeu may wish to send along a brief description of the recipe's history and any adaptations you have made to the old recipe. 3. Each recipe nmust be ORIGINAL and previously unpublished, except in a charity cookbook under your naine. Original recipes are those that have been adapted from other sources -or faniily ones that have been handed down to you. Enter as often as You wish, but each recipe entry must be submitted by one person only, in a separate envelope, bearing. sufficient postage and be received by June 3, 1988, the contest closing date. To enter and qualify, print your name, address, city, province, postal code, telephone number and age on a plain piece of paper and, together with your Heritage Peach Recipe printed or typed on an 8-1/2" x 11", paper and signed, mail to Heritage Peach Recipe Contest, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, 33 Yonge Street, Suite 800, Toronto, Ontario M7A 1A6. and crafted by Ontario Mennonites and valued at $1,500. Two second-place winners will each receive a $300 gourmet Ontario food basket. And there's lots more! To qua lify, each recipe must be original, contain at least four Ontario peaches and have been in use for at, least two generations.
