Black and white photograph showing the cows from the Ontario Hospital farm grazing in front of the hospital barn.
Notes:
The Ontario Hospital was constructed on a preexisting farm and its bounty was used to feed workers and planners during the construction process. When the facilities were completed in 1917, the farm was maintained by doctors and patients and provided the meat, milk, and vegetables necessary to sustain the hospital. Considered as valuable therapy for many patients, the farm was in operation until 1969.
