Magnussen Furniture was founded in 1931 by Ingwer Magnussen, an employee of Globe Furniture Company. First founded as a one-man operation in a former chicken coop in Kitchener, the factory was moved to Waterloo in 1937 into an unused PUC gas works plant at 142 Waterloo Street. In 1977 the company purchased and moved into the former Electrohome plant in New Hamburg. Presidential Furniture a division of Magnussen for US sales was founded in 1986. In 2002 Magnussen-Presidential Furniture became Magnussen Home.
