- A young man sitting on a rock, clearly a prop in the photographer's studio. Although the number 1893 has been marked on the rock, this is almost certainly the photographer's control number rather than the date. J. L. Wilson was one of St. Marys' earliest photographers, operating from the 1860s. See comment.
The man's suit suggests that this carte de visite was probably taken in the 1860s or 1870s.

- Condition: very stained with brown marks everywhere; yellowish/brown tone all over; some contrast missing; appears it may had some water damage.
