This black and white photograph depicts a woman and a man standing by a building identified by its signage as the Petawawa Post Office.
Notes:
The first Petawawa Village Post Office opened in 1948, Oliver Clouthier pictured here was the first Postmaster, while his wife, Jane (Jean), also pictured was his assistant and bookkeeper. The Clouthiers continued working at this post office until their retirement in 1971. Originally, the building had been a dance hall, owned and operated by Sam and Hec Clouthier, before being converted to the Post Office and two apartments. The original building has since been demolished.
