Very interesting to see this . I have been googling millitary commisions for some time now and this is the first I found that looks similiar to mine . I have some also , not quite as old though ,1839 and into the 1870's . I have about 10 of them . I was thinking of framing them , would you reccomend this . Also do you think they have any value ? Not that I would sell

Nice to hear you have a nice collection of them. Recommendations of this type are always with a degree of warning. You can do, what you wish to do with them and how you get the most enjoyment out of them. All documentary artefacts prefer to live in an acid free environment and in the dark. However, framing is an option, but be very, very careful with the type of materials you use, where you locate it (not close to visible light if possible), etc... Lots of great material available at

Donald McDonnell was appointed to Captain in the Second Regiment of the Glengarry Militia by Sir Isaac Brock. There is also a red wax seal in the upper left corner. Size: (Framed) 45 x 34.6 cm
