Gloria Hope is a local sculptress who has worked in a variety of media. Now residing in Uxbridge, she often works in clay, merging elements of nature and the human form; she uses a variety of stains, oxides, acrylics, and smoke firings.

In 1987 the Newmarket Public Library (NPL) was very fortunate to be the beneficiary of a donation intended for works of art and books relating to art by Dorothy and Jim Bowman and their daughter Carol Bowman. The funds were invested in trust for this purpose until 1998 when a collection of works of art was selected and purchased to form a permanent gallery in the Library.
