From Huntsville With Spirit and Resolve by Susan Pryke
In the late 1920s or early 1930s Gordon Hill purchased property at Interlaken where he had several log buildings available for overnight camping trips. To further tempt visitors, Hill carved 150 miles of ski trails through his 3,000 acre estate and added a toboggan slide and ski jump. His Top of the world ski hill opened in 1934. During the 1930s Limberlost hosted an annual "air meet", no doubt with the help of Mrs. Hill's brother, Tom Higgins, who flew charter flights for the resort. Planes form all over Ontario converged on Limberlost for a weekend of skiing, slalom races, and outdoor diversions.
