- Description
- A black and white print showing a front and side view of Spettigue Hall. Signs for two businesses can be seen above the doorways. To the left is "R.S.T. DAVIDSON & CO." and to the right is "J. MOULE JR.".
Merchandise is displayed outside the R.S.T. Davidson & Co. store and a two wheeled cart sits in front of the doorway. There are people standing in front of the building. - Notes
- Spettigue Hall (later the Duffield Block) was built in 1871 by Joseph Spettigue. It contained a concert hall on the second floor. When James Duffield bought the building in 1891, he closed the theatre and divided the space into a third floor, which altered the facade.
There is a handwritten inscription on the back of the photograph. The date in the inscription is erroneously given as ca. 1885. This photograph would have been taken ca. 1874-1875 when R.S.T. Davidson & Co. and J. Moule were at this location. PG B27 - Inscriptions
