- A black and white, head and shoulders portrait of Josiah Blackburn.
- Notes
- Josiah Blackburn, a journalist, publisher and politician was born in London, England March 6, 1823, immigrated to Canada in 1850 and died November 11, 1890. In 1852 he purchased a small weekly newspaper, The Canadian Free Press. In 1855, he began a daily paper, The London Free Press and Daily Western Advertiser, which later became The London Free Press.
He lived at 76 Albert Street, the location shown on the map.
Judging from his age in this undated photograph, it's possible that it may have been taken ca. 1863-1873.
