Philander Smith Alford (1848-1901) was appointed lockmaster of Davis Lock in the late 1890s. Before that he had lived on the family farm in Bastard Township and then moved to South Crosby. In the photo are L to R: Fred, Philander, Martha Tackaberry Alford (1854-1937), Elah Back row is Caroline and Charles.
