According to records, the McQuestion family was in the Upper Ottawa Valley as early as 1845. William E.Logan mentions a Mr. McQuestion while on his survey of Upper Canada in 1845. Ben McQuestion (McQuestein) appears in the 1871 census for the United Townships of Rolph, Buchannan, Wiley and Mckay. He is 9 years old at time of census. His father, James McQuestion, first appears in the 1861 census for the United Townships of Rolph, Buchannan, Wiley and Mckay. He is 52 in 1861. It is highly likely that James McQuestion is the Mr. McQuestion mentioned by Logan in his 1845 journal.
