Fire Wardens Appointed In Township
ROLPHTON (Special) — Five fire wardens were appointed at a meeting of the Council for the combined township of Head, Clara, and Maria recently. They are Percy Clouthier, Elmer Panke, Ernie Boudreau, Dick Delahunt, and Ken Wilson, The appointments came after a request by the department of lands and forests for the wardens for the 1970 season.
Plans by the lands and forests for subdivision of the areas around Valiant and Radiant Lakes were presented at the meeting also. The plans showed that there are 52 lots that will be made available. 20 at Mousseau Lake and 32 at Valiant Lake. Both lakes are in the Bissett's area and have easy access to Highway 17.
Council voted to pay $3,500 to the Renfrew County Board of Education. This represents 25 per cent of the 1969 levy.
Bourne and Simpson, in answer to council's request for an explanation of their bill of $641.40 for surveying the four acres of land at Mackey for the new boat launching ramp, stat¬ed that their bill was determined from the minimum tarrif schedule of the Association of Land Surveyors.
Road Superintendent, Charles Delahunt, will attend the T. J. Mahoney Road School in Guelph on May 10, 11 and 12. This is the third year of a three-year course and Mr. Delahunt has attended both previous courses.
A request for support to the Deep River teen-age night club was shelved.
Council motioned to have all community centre funds funnelled through township books in order that any grants available on capital outlays or maintenance may be obtained. Otherwise, the community centre board will operate as in the past.
No one in the townships was on welfare during the month of February.
