Few Firm Commitments In The Township
Election day in the upper townships could be a very interesting one. At press time the present reeve of Head, Clara and Maria, Loretta Boissonneault, has stated she will not seek public office this year. Her reasons are of a private nature. This leaves the field wide open for the chief's chair. Both former reeves of the townships, Art Yates and Leslie Donnelly, have indicated they might again consider this position.
Three councillors have also given some thought to the matter but we could only learn today that Councillor Ernie Boudreau will again run for council and Councillors Mary Sennett and Kenneth Wilson are as yet undecided, pending interest shown on nomination night. Councillor Dick Delahunt is unavailable for comment.
In the townships of Rolph, Buchanan, Wylie and McKay, Reeve Guy duManoir along with Councillors Paul Bertrand Mel Stewart and Wildred Gust are all undecided, the NRT learned. However Deputy Reeve Cecil Macdonald does intend to run for some office, which one not definitely decided, and Councillor Harvey Smith will run for council again.
Former Councillor Ken Menzies has indicated he might again seek election to a municipal office.
