Average Increase 5 Mills As Township Sets '69 Budget
MACKEY (Special)—With an increase averaging five mills, the township of Head, Clara and Maria set the 1969 budget.
The reason for the increase was blamed on a rise in school levies. Municipal expenditures were dropped from the previous year while county rates went up by about half a mill.
The breakdown is as follows: d e n t i a 1, 30.44; commercial.
Separate school levies: resi- 33.78; Public school levies: re¬sidential, 29.37; commercial, 32.34; high school, 29.68; county rates, 11.59; Municipal: resi¬dential, 13.25, commercial. 27.45.
Total separate school supporters levies: residential 84.96; commercial, 102.50.
Total public school support¬ers' levies: residential, 83.89; commercial 101.06.
In further council business members discussed the 30 miles of township roads following a tour of inspection with Department of Highways' road engineers.
Council decided to forego purchase of a new truck for this year in order to keep municipal levies down. It is hoped to be able to pay off a large portion of the $5,000 county debt. Council voted to pay $2,000 on the outstanding debt. The county levy for this year is $3,134.68 as compared with $2 958 in 1968.

Council regretted that town¬ship road equipment was not in sufficiently good condition to take part in the work done on the runway at the Pembroke Area Airport.
A rabies clinic will be held at Deux Rivieres June 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. and at Stonecliffe on June 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.
