Description
A photograph of the Finnish Labour Temple as it looked in the 1920's. The Finnish Labour Temple on Bay Street was built in 1910. It was truly a multi-purpose building, from its very beginnings. The building was utilized by labour groups, a Finnish publishing company, a gymnastic club, drama groups and a restaurant. The Hoito restaurant came into being in this building in 1918. Since that time it has established a reputation for excellent service and simple, inexpensive meals. It has been written up in Canadian Living, Canadian Geographic magazines and in the book, ' Savor Superior' a guide to dining around Lake Superior.
