In response to Gerry Poling's column regarding the recognition of Sheila Burnford for her contribution to the literary world ("An Incredible Journey - The Way It Was, Nov. 7), the Thunder Bay Public Library recognizes the excellent work that Ms. Burnford has done in this realm.

The library board, with the generous assistance of the Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library is embarking on a five-year plan to renovate and refurbish the Waverley Resource Library. As part of the improvements, we are looking at including a statue of the three animals from The Incredible Journey, to be located at the renovated entrance. A plaque dedicated to Sheila Burnford would be included. We feel that the statue would provide a lasting memorial to Sheila Burnford as one of our most treasured and well-known authors.

Anyone interested in working on this project may call the library.
