Penmans Imported Help Memos

These two memos were created by the Penmans Limited clothing company pertaining to its immigrant workers. Through much of the 20th century, Penmans solicited employees in parts of England and Canada and aided them in immigrating to Canada to work at the Paris mills. While Penmans would pay for their voyages, these were treated as a loan and they were expected to be repaid. The "no good" list on the second page may refer to workers who left without repaying their travel costs.
