These four pages from one of Capron’s ledgers demonstrate some of his financial affairs and interests during the 1850s and 1860s. It includes lists of his land sales; the population of Paris, with a rough geographical sketch; his “bad debts;” and his taxes from 1852 through 1864.
Notes:
Most of the writing on these pages is in the same pen and may have been done at once; the latest date with this pen is 1860. Some later entries, which go as late as 1864, have been written using a different instrument and may have been later updates to an 1860 document.
