Description:
This agreement documents Capron's sale of a strip of land to allow the Great Western Railroad Company to run a track on his property. He additionally sold a plot to allow for the construction of a depot, and agreed to construct a wooden fence along the length of this track. In return, he was granted $1000. He also makes arrangements for a crossing in order to allow a road through the tracks.

A later agreement with the same company is also included in this collection and is linked to on the right.

I Hiram Capron of Paris do hereby and covenant agree with N/E [illegible], agreed for the Great Western Rail Road Company. That I will grant a strip a parcel of Land one Hundered but wide through the whole length of the Land for a Rail Road - (If [i?] required the [illegible] [?o] wide) And also a parcel of Land for a Depo at [A??] most convenient place to accommodate Paris + their [g?ad?] two Hundred feet wide on Each [?ell?] of the above discribed Land for one thousand feet in length - If so much should be absolutely necessary for the actual Land Road + depo      And I further agree to build a good Bound fence four feet high of oak or cedar posts set 3 feet in ground, caped, Battered and nailed in a workman like manner all of which for the consideration of Ten Rail Road Shares fully paid up and [???pled] by the proper Officer of the Great Western Rail Road Company $1000 (underlined). It is further understood by and between us that the Company are to Mainetain save [fu??] for Ever afterward, distance completed at or under Seven Hundred Roads, the Company to [nea??] croping placed for Road from the Saw Mill to the [f???] [Con??s???] and if required a croping in Lot 32 for thee [Con-?r?????] of that farm said [fu??] to be set on or within the their Lands taken for Road + Depo by the direction of the Engineer of said Company
