Description
This item is a letter sent from J.M. McEwen, a merchant from St. George, to George Foster and Sons on 6 January, 1903. Mr. McEwen writes that he has read and signed a draft sent to him, and requests them to notify the bank in St. George to wait for a few days before receiving payment. He says he has a lot of money in the bank, but is not sure if it will be available to him on the expected due date.

St. George, Jan 6th/03

Gentlemen,

Your draft to [read] and signed

But would be much obliged if you would

notify the bank here to hold for a few days

[Encouraging] to do the work with as few hands

as possible. I [illegible] sending but my

acc. to since starting business. So that

I have a large amt due [illegible] which I am not sure

of being available by 7th due date.

By notifying you would much

oblige. Yours truly,

J.M. McEwen
