Dear friend John,
Received your letter
Sunday the 15th I am always glad
to hear from you. W,H,D was here
all day Friday Will helped them
a day in the spring. Oh we are
having such dull weather now
Sunday morning was very cold
the coldest morning we have had this
fall it made us think of winter
Monday Tuesday + to-day raining the
most of the time. We have had
a lovely fall last week + this week
have been the worst. We must not
expect the weather to be all sunshine
nor our lives either. The roads are

quite muddy now. Pa + Ma are away
to-day over to Uncle Steve's (Mr Lynes)
A week ago Sunday Mr Linscott
preached on how to get rich

Presbyterian church. Mr Calvert
has been away four Sundays he
came home last week preached

choir now there were nineteen Sunday

of Ma's Aunts I guess you will
think we are on the go all the
time we can't go week days
(so much work to do) I saw your
brother Sunday night. the first
time I have seen him since
you left these parts. W,H,D said
he had your horse, he said

wanted to come home he would

go out anytime I would like
so much to see you. I think
Glencoe must agree with you
because you weigh more now than
you did the day of confirmation
I weighed a hundred + one this
evening. I am sorry to tell you
Ed Dennis's baby was buried a
week ago Sunday in the afternoon
the day of the [opening] Nov 10th.
The Baptist had a tea meeting
Monday night they made $125.00
Ed + Nettie were down one day last
week we made a dress for Nettie
I suppose you didn't know
[Tamara?] + I are dressmakers
Nettie came down Saturday on the
train they want us all to come up
soon. Nettie says the [flies?] are all
gone now. If you stay away much
longer you will forget how
