This photograph depicts Old Saas Bakery Fire on Sunday, Feb. 12, 1939. At 8:50 a.m. St. George Fire Department responded to the emergency call, but it was found that the pump was frozen. The Brantford Fire Department was called, but when the rescue team arrived the building could not be saved.
The original photo was provided by Paul McConkey during a Digital Preservation Day event in St. George in May 2011.
