The post-war period marked when Mount Pleasant was able to grow from a small pioneer settlement into a more permanent village. Community spirit blossomed with the arrival of new settlers, a spirit that remains today in the many descendants of these families and newcomers alike. Despite many changes over the years, it remains the village that led one settler to proclaim that “no situation could make me more happy” (Jaeger 90).
