Jack Fielding was in contact with the Town of Ajax Mayor’s Office throughout the 1980s beyond until correspondence stopped in 2009. Jack suffered a heart attack in November 2008 and never fully recovered.

Jack is pictured in the back of this photo from 1939 (indicated by the arrow). After the Battle of the River Plate the crew of the and Exeter were invited to the
‘British Club’ in Montevideo for a celebration barbeque.

Jack was very proud of ‘his street’ in Ajax and even corresponded with some residents on occasion.
