A black and white copy of a photograph of Jervais Cornell (1800 to 1872), a Quaker who came from New York State, bought 150 acres of land in Pickering Township (now in Ajax) and settled to raise a family. The house at 290 Old Harwood Ave. was built on this property by his son, Edward Cornell.
