Mr. Eaket received a replica of the 'Lamp of Learning' trophy in Toronto Saturday and was presented with the actual trophy Monday by Michael Sheehan, president of District 30, Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation from Sault Ste. Marie. Approximately 100 people, mainly teachers, those associated with the education field, community officials and friends gathered at the Nordic Hotel to witness the presentation. The award is given to a non-teacher for outstanding contributions to education. "I must compliment the OSSTF for their good taste in recognizing the tremendous contribution that Mr. Eaket has given over the past 25 years," said Bruce Smith, director of Education for the North Shore board. Mr. Eaket was also complimented on his outstanding achievements to education in the Blind River, Elliot Lake areas by Lawyer Greg Cameron of Blind River who represented that community and Paul Tomlin, a representative of the OSSTF from Elliot Lake. "The award was certainly a surprise to me," said Mr. Eaket "I am pleased to receive it and must say that the work was done willingly. "To the students represented here I have to emphasize that it is you I work for and will continue to do so," said Mr. Eaket.
