OBITUARY
MRS. W. J. BOPREY
Plainville, March 12. Following a prolonged Illness the death occurred on Wednesday of Mrs. William John Boprey, a well know and highly respected resident of the District. While she had been in ill health for some time her passing came as a great shock to her many friends.
Mrs. Boprey’s maiden name was Margaret Isabella Baptist. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Baptist, who were widely known in the district. Following her marriage she moved with her husband to Brandon, Manitoba where they resided for some years before returning to Ontario in September of last year.
She is survived by her sorrowing husband, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Smith, of Manitoba; one son, Alexander, of Brandon, Manitoba; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Cruikshank, Mrs. J. T. Buttars and Mrs. J. Buttars, all of Plainville, and two brothers, George of Rochester, and William of Baltimore. Two grandchildren also survive.
The funeral was held on Friday of this week from the family residence, Plainville, followed by interment in the Cobourg Union Cemetery.

AID PROVINCIAL REVENUES
Ontario leads all the other provinces in the percentage of the provincial revenue that is collected from the operators of motor vehicles. In 1936 the combined gasoline tax collections and registration fees amounted to $26.924.028, or approximately 41 percent of the total provincial revenue of $ 65,726,985. Quebec was second, collecting 31.6 percent of her year’s revenue from the motorist’s, and Prince Edward Island was at the foot of the list, with 18.4 percent of provincial revenue coming from gasoline taxes and registration fees.
The share of gasoline tax paid by commercial vehicles in Ontario is estimated at about 28 percent of the total tax collected. Commercial vehicles numbered 77,015 and on the bias of 1,000 gallons annual consumption paid a six cent tax on 78015,000 gallons, or total of $450,900. The province collected $16,64,857 in gasoline taxes during the year.
Ontario’s revenue from registration and license fees for the fiscal year 1936-1937 was 11,144,955. Of this total commercial vehicles contributed 31.6 percent or $3_19.147
Commercial vehicles, numbering 19 percent of all vehicles registered in the province, thus paid 30 percent of all provincial revenues from motor vehicles.
