We were lucky to inherit an old Grandfather Clock that was originally presented by the Coburg Old Boys Association to F W Beebe Esq in appreciation for his services as Secretary July 1903. It has a brass plaque screwed onto the front, just on wood below the glass door. So we started searching for information about the clock and also it's original owner. We found a news article in the Mail & Empire, Toronto . Wednesday, June 6 1900. It mentions the Election of Officers. Then --The Old Boys met in St George's Hall to elect their officers and draw up a constitution for the association. The list includes Secretary Fred W. Beebe. So there you are --a bit of Coburg History. Ps. The clock was purchased from an elderly lady by our relatives maybe 50 or more years ago.

Captain Fred Beebe of No. 1 Hose Company

Captain Beebe left Cobourg in 1884 when the Volunteer Firemen came to an end. He later moved to Toronto and said of Cobourg "There was nothing left in the old town for me.".
